The Rainforest Alliance SmartWood Program has granted Flakeboard’s Bennettsville, S.C. MDF plant certification to its Forest Stewardship Council’s Chain–of-Custody (COC) and Controlled Wood (CW) standards.
The FSC is a globally-recognized, not-for-profit organization established to promote responsible management of the world’s forests. Its COC system follows FSC certified material through the manufacturing process from forest to consumer, and provides a union between responsible production and consumption. Products displaying the
FSC label assure consumers that they are contributing to the ecological, social and economic needs of present and future generations.
"For Flakeboard, this certification highlights the important environmental benefits that our products, and our industry as a whole, bring to the management of our critical forest resources and is a validation of our present practices," states TJ Rosengarth, VP and Chief Operating Officer. "It builds upon our existing EPP and CARB certifications and further supports the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program."
