Six 3M industrial adhesives have been certified to the GREENGUARD Children & Schools™ standard — the highest certification offered by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. This certification states that the chemical and particle emissions from these adhesives are low enough to meet the levels of indoor air quality standards set by GEI; one of the five key areas of human and environmental health within the United States Green Building Council’s LEED® program. In addition, the availability of these adhesives means that manufacturers and builders have another resource to help them pursue LEED® rated projects, which can lead to greater product demand for manufacturers and faster occupancy rates for builders.

Demonstrating that low emissions and high-strength bonds can co-exist, the full line of 3M industrial adhesives with GREENGUARD TM certification are well suited to a wide variety of applications, such as flooring, countertop laminations, furniture and mattress manufacturing, as well as ceiling and wall systems. Five of the six certified adhesives have water-based characteristics that match the high performance of their solvent-based counterparts, while the low-VOC, solvent-based adhesive (Scotch-Weld Cylinder Spray Adhesive 94CA from 3M) maintains its clean finish and rapid dry time for contact bonding.
