How did you become interested in working with wood?
From shop classes in high school and by working on side projects with my dad and grandpa, I grew to find satisfaction in the creation of tangible, long-lasting products.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I find inspiration in my professors, past employers and any unique idea I come across.
How would you describe your style?
I like to expose myself to as wide of variety of work as I can.
What kind of woodworking experience do you have?
Through my education at Pittsburg State I have been exposed to many aspects of the woodworking industry. I have also been fortunate enough to take part in three different internships.
- Summer 2004: ARTchitectural Interiors, San Antonio, Texas
- Summer 2005: Jefferson Millwork and Design, Sterling, Va.
- Summer 2006: Imperial Woodworking Co., Palatine, Ill.
What was your latest project?
I assisted our student organization at school (The Society of Architectural Woodworkers) in building 26 veneered benches, which were completed for Jefferson Millwork and Design to be placed in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Ashburn, Va.
What do you plan to do after graduation?
This is my final semester at Pittsburg State. After graduation, a past graduate of Pitt State and I are going into business for ourselves installing premium millwork.
